Episode Recap
Uncle Albert’s Pub, later renamed to Big W Cattle Company, was a Katy, Texas (Houston) bar that was featured on Season 9 of Bar Rescue.
Though the Uncle Albert’s Bar Rescue episode aired in July 2024, the actual filming and visit from Bar Rescue took place before that in April 2024.
It was Season 9 Episode 19 and the episode name was “Long Island Mess”.
When it comes to the rescue in this episode, I have good news and bad news.
The bad news – Jon Taffer is not rescuing the bar.
The good news – Danny Trejo will be part of the team rescuing the bar.
Danny Trejo, along with Phil Wills, are in Katy, Texas (Houston) to rescue Uncle Albert’s Pub.
If you’re not familiar with Texas geography, Katy is right outside Houston.
It’s actually Bar Rescue’s second visit to Katy (and third to Houston), as Jon Taffer rescued a Katy TX bar back in Season 3.
While Danny Trejo is probably best known as an actor (that Breaking Bad scene!), he also has experience in the food and bar industry.
He owns Trejo’s Tacos, which has five different locations, along with Trejo’s Cerveza and Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts.
At the time that the episode aired, this marked Bar Rescue’s 15th visit to Texas, which makes it one of the more popular states on the show.
The bar is owned by Les, whose nickname is Long Island Les.
When Phil and Danny are talking about the bar’s processes with Les’s wife, Les seems to take offense to how Phil and Danny are talking to her.
This triggers a big shouting match between them, with Phil Wills finally yelling and getting loud.
Honestly, it’s the closest I’ve seen to Phil being able to actually replace Jon Taffer.
It definitely feels like a classic Bar Rescue shouting match.
Danny also gets in on the shouting.
Let’s be real, if Danny Trejo is shouting at you, it’s time to shut the eff up.
Because I’m writing this a day before the episode airs on TV, I don’t have any additional recap to share.
I might try to update this later.
I do know what happened to the bar in terms of renovations, though.
Danny and Phil opted to change the bar’s name from Uncle Albert’s Pub to Big W Cattle Co.
As part of that, they put in a new Angus-focused menu to fit the Big W Cattle Company name.
So – was the Uncle Albert’s Pub Bar Rescue episode a long-term success?
Keep reading to learn what happened next and if this Katy, TX bar is still open in 2025.
Big W Cattle Co Update - What Happened Next?
Now that we’ve recapped the Uncle Albert’s rescue, let’s talk about what happened to the bar after Danny and Phil left Texas.
I’ll start by talking about whether or not the bar is still open and using the concept from the show.
Then, I’ll look into the bar’s reaction to the episode, along with how customers feel about the changes from the show.
Beyond that, I’ll also share any other relevant tidbits that I’m able to dig up.
Let’s get into it…
Is Big W Cattle Company still open after Bar Rescue?
As of my most recent check in 2024, the bar is still open and serving customers in Katy, TX.
I believe that they’re still using the Big W Cattle Co name, though they don’t seem to have updated their website or social media profiles.
The bar’s Facebook page still displays as Uncle Albert’s Pub.
However, when I look at Facebook posts from bartenders, they still promote it as Big W Cattle Co and not Uncle Albert’s Pub.
I think this is a case of them just not being very proactive about updating their online presence, rather than them having already ditched the new concept.
For example, here’s a July 12 2024 Facebook post from Suzanne (a bartender) promoting it as Big W Cattle Co (well, I guess technically misspelled as “Castle Co”, but I think that’s a typo).
Unfortunately, the bar hasn’t posted on its social profiles since the renovation, so I have no idea what types of events are going on their.
I did some see some third-party posts about live music at the bar, so they do seem to have regular live music, at least.
Here’s an example:
Here’s what the bar’s location looks like in the most recent picture from Google Maps street view…
It hasn’t been updated since 2022, so it still shows the Uncle Albert’s concept.
I’m mainly just including it so that you can explore the area around the bar.
The bar’s reaction to the Bar Rescue episode
Overall, the bar seems to have a positive reaction to the episode.
I found a response to this Facebook post where Clark said the following:
our sales have increased 😈
so we appreciate it whole heartedly
Big W Cattle Co reviews after Bar Rescue
As I mentioned earlier, the bar doesn’t really seem to have much of an online presence.
I don’t see a Google My Business listing for the new name and the social media profiles don’t seem to have the new name.
I did find the Yelp page for the original Uncle Albert’s Pub concept, but there haven’t been any customer reviews written after Phil and Danny’s visit.
People do seem to be leaving reviews for Big W Cattle Co on the original Uncle Albert’s Pub Google listing, though.
There have only been a few reviews written, but they seem to be a bit mixed, with most of the negative reviews coming from regulars who seem to not like the new concept.
Here are some examples of the reviews that I was able to find…
5 star Google review from June 2024:

Drama at the Big W Cattle Co when someone got ran over by a car
When searching for information on Big W Cattle Co, I found an interesting Instagram post from May 15 2024.
Apparently an argument broke out in the bar’s parking lot which ended with a person backing their car up over a lady.
That lady got pinned under the car, but eventually got out and was ok.
The driver drove off.
You can see a video of everything here, and I’ve also embedded the post below.

While this doesn’t have anything to do with the bar directly, I nevertheless thought it was interesting enough to share.
Final thoughts on the episode
Overall, while the owners don’t seem to have updated their digital presence, I believe that they are still using the Big W Cattle Co name and concept (at least for now).
I can’t find many real customer reviews from after the rescue, so I don’t know how people feel about the changes.
The few reviews that do exist seem to be a bit mixed.
They did say that their sales have increased, though, which is a positive sign for the bar’s longevity.
If that sales increase stays around, I hope that they’re able to achieve long-term success with the new concept.
That wraps up my Big W Cattle Company Bar Rescue update.

Did not like it without Jon, and it seemed the 2 guys that were sent in were rude to a point. Yes they did not have a good cook and apparently they still don’t. Did not like the arguing with everyone.
Machete was good, but I had no idea he was 5’6″. The shouting match was his shining moment. Too bad that he wasn’t really running the rescue; seems like he was just there for decoration. Poor guy had tax problems and was probably forced to do this and Masked Singer. They gave him one line during the reveal brand placement section. Comical.
Phil was kinda terrible again. They must have negotiated for 40 episodes and want to get them all out before the show is cancelled or something.
Nobody addressed where this whole “Albeert” spelling came from, but the sign on the outside has always read “Albert’s” according to Google.
The photo is because I took the image from Google Maps. Sometimes Google Maps stitches together multiple images and it leads to what looks like a spelling error. I got confused with it on my Sam Jordan’s post and someone explained what was happening.
I love Jon Taffer and Bar Rescue, and Phil Wills has always been one of my favorite experts brought in by Jon. Obviously he can’t be everywhere and likely wants to pass the torch in some respects, so I can’t imagine a better host of the show than Phil, as long as they keep experts like Vic Vegas, Lisa Marie Joyce, Mia Mastrioni, Chef Jason Santos, Chef Pink, etc. Danny Trejio’s guest appearance was awesome, but Phil with him made the episode stellar. Would love to see a return of Ashley Clark or Chef Brian Duffy also.
