Episode Recap
Brothers on Main, later renamed to The Blue Velvet, was a St. Clair, Missouri bar that was featured on Season 9 of Bar Rescue.
Though the Blue Velvet Bar Rescue episode aired in April 2025, the actual filming and visit from Bar Rescue took place before that in July 2024.
It was Season 9 Episode 29 and the episode name was “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?”.
In this episode, Bar Rescue is back in Missouri for the ninth time in the show’s history.
Yes – despite being a relatively small state, Missouri has gotten a lot of attention from Jon Taffer and the crew.
Unfortunately, Jon Taffer is not leading the rescue.
Instead, it will be led by a blue-haired Jason Santos, who seems like he actually does a pretty good job in this episode.
Jason is in St. Clair Missouri to rescue a bar named Brothers on Main.
As you might be able to guess from the name, the bar is owned by a set of brothers – Daniel and David Holmes.
The brothers have issues in their relationship and debate about how much work each is doing.
Allegedly, one of the brothers, Daniel, is “running the bar into the ground”.
David had to leave the bar to get a real job because the bar is failing, but Daniel doesn’t seem to have done a good job in his absence.
According to Daniel, the bar only has about two weeks left to stay open unless it can turn things around.
However, things are pretty rough, with a bar that looks more like a “bingo hall” according to Jason.
Jason really lays into the owners, telling them that “the food is shit, the drinks are shit, the bartenders don’t know how to make anything.”
Obviously, that means Jason has his work cut out for him.
As part of the renovation, Jason decided to give Brothers on Main a new name and concept.
He switched the bar’s name to The Blue Velvet, which I imagine is to match Jason’s blue hair (that’s a joke!)
So – was the Brothers on Main Bar Rescue visit a long-term success?
Keep reading my update to learn what happened next and if The Blue Velvet is still open in 2025.
The Blue Velvet Update - What Happened Next?
Now that we’ve recapped the episode, let’s talk about how the bar is doing after the Bar Rescue crew left town.
I’ll start by talking about whether or not the Blue Velvet is still open after the show.
Then, I’ll look at customer reviews from after the rescue and share any other interesting information that I can find.
Let’s get into it…
Is The Blue Velvet still open after Bar Rescue?
Unfortunately, The Blue Velvet seems to have closed some time around November or December 2024, which means that it was not able to stay open until its Bar Rescue episode aired on TV.
This means that it’s the first bar from this set of episodes to close before its episode aired on TV.
At the time that the Blue Velvet closed, it did seem to at least still be using the name and concept that Jason Santos gave them during the episode.
According to a Facebook post in the St.Clair Free Talk group, the bar closed because it was sold and purchased by someone else.
Note – based on the real estate listing (I’ll show it below), I’m not sure if the bar has actually sold yet.
The only place I found mentioning that it was sold is the Facebook comment below.
I also found a December 2024 real estate listing post advertising the bar for sale with the following description:
Unique opportunity available here.
Turn Key business.
Recently upgraded/remodeled Bar by the TV Show “Bar Rescue”.
Location is great.
Sellers are open to selling as a package, or if buyers are not interested in the equipment, it can be sold separately.
If you are looking to open a restaurant and/or Lounge this is a wonderful opportunity.
The asking price is currently $199,900, which seems to be a price cut from an original listing price of $250,000.
The listing is still marked as active, which is why I’m not sure that the Facebook comment above about it being sold already is accurate.
Here’s a screenshot of the listing in case it gets deleted (I’ve blurred the pictures to avoid copyright issues).
The bar also promoted the real estate listing on the Brothers on Main Facebook page.
In the screenshot below, you can see that the asking price for the property in November was originally $250,000.
However, as of the current listing pictured above, they seem to have lowered the price to $199,900.
Overall, this is sad to see.
I know that some people will accuse the brothers of just getting the bar renovated with plans to sell it.
However, there was like a four month delay between the renovation and them listing it for sale, so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they gave it an honest go before giving up.
Here’s what the bar’s location looks like in the most recent picture from Google Maps street view…
It hasn’t updated since May 2024 so it still shows the old Brothers on Main branding.
I’m mainly just including it so that you can explore the area around the bar…
What happened to the brothers?
According to a Facebook post on the bar’s page, at least one of the brothers will be working at a new arcade/bar called Hangout.
However, it doesn’t seem like the brothers are opening that bar.
Rather, one of them is just working there according to the post:
Final thoughts on the episode
Overall, this is a sad one to see.
It’s the first real “failure” from this set of episodes as The Blue Velvet wasn’t even able to stay open until its episode aired on TV.
I hope the brothers gave it an honest shot before giving up and selling the bar.
That wraps up my The Blue Velvet Bar Rescue update.

I don’t like watching the show unless Jon Taffer is running the show, (pun intended). It seems like at least half of the bars that they attempt to rescue, close for good. JON needs to step in before the places go too deeply in debt. I probably won’t continue to watch Bar Rescue unless Jon is involved
Jason did a fantastic job. The show is good whether Jon is on it or not in my opinion. whether it’s Phil Wills, Jason Santos, etc, I think these guys do a fantastic job! The owners of this bar were unintelligent enough to run and make a bar profitable. Taffer wouldn’t have saved it either.
