Episode Recap

Pat and Dandy’s Sports Bar and Grill was a Toledo, Ohio bar that was featured on Season 9 of Bar Rescue.

Though the Pat and Dandy’s Bar Rescue episode aired in June 2025, the actual filming and visit from Bar Rescue took place before that in mid 2024.

It was Season 9 Episode 38 and the episode name was “The World Famous Raw Chicken Wings”.

In this episode, Bar Rescue is back in Ohio for the first time in a while.

More specifically, they’re in Toledo Ohio, which is the first time that Bar Rescue has come to Toledo.

Unfortunately, I have to say “Bar Rescue” instead of “Jon Taffer” because Jon Taffer will not be leading the rescue himself.

Instead, he’s sending long-time expert Phil Wills to handle saving the bar.

Phil is in Toledo to rescue Pat and Dandy’s Sports Bar and Grill, a well-established bar that seems to have changed ownership a couple of times.

According to the episode description, the Pat and Dandy’s owner is dealing with some health problems.

The staff are supposedly taking advantage of those issues to not implement any standards at the bar.

If you combine that with the staff generally being untrained, you have a recipe for disaster and an explanation for why Pat and Dandy’s is showing up on Bar Rescue.

Unfortunately, Bar Rescue has not posted a preview video for this episode.

Since I’m writing this the day before the episode airs on TV, that means that I can’t provide any more detailed episode recap at the moment.

Based on my research, I believe that Phil Wills mostly kept the same name from the show.

It was “Pat and Dandy’s Sports Bar and Grill” before and after the episode it seems to have just been slightly tweaked to “Pat and Dandy’s Sports Central Bar and Grill”.

I will need to confirm this after the episode airs, but that basically looks like the same name to me.

So – was the Pat and Dandy’s Bar Rescue visit a long-term success?

Keep reading my update to learn what happened next and if this Toledo, Ohio bar is still open in 2025.

Pat and Dandy's Update - What Happened Next?

Now that I’ve done my best to recap the Pat and Dandy’s episode with Phil Wills, let’s get into the more interesting stuff and talk about how the bar is doing after the rescue.

I’ll start by talking about whether or not the bar is still open after the rescue.

Then, I’ll look at some real customer reviews from after Phil’s changes to give you an idea of what real customers are experiencing.

Let’s get into it…

Is Pat and Dandy’s still open after Bar Rescue

As of my most recent check, Pat and Dandy’s is still open and serving customers in Toledo Ohio.

They are continuing to use the original Pat and Dandy’s name.

As I mentioned earlier, I think Phil kept the same basic name after the rescue, but if needed I will update this part after the episode airs on TV and I have more information.

I am 100% sure that they’re operating as Pat and Dandy’s in 2025, though.

The bar is very active on its Facebook page, regularly posting about events and specials.

However, the Instagram page hasn’t been updated in about two years now.

However, they do have an official Pat and Dandy’s website.

Here’s a screenshot of part of the menu to give you an idea of the prices:

And then here’s what the Pat and Dandy’s location looks like in the most recent picture from Google Maps street view.

Google updated it in June 2024 so I believe it’s showing the renovated sign and exterior from Bar Rescue…

Pat and Dandy’s reviews after Bar Rescue

Next, let’s take a look at some real customer reviews from after the rescue.

Overall, Pat and Dandy’s has a 4.3 star rating on 400+ Google reviews but just a 2.9 star rating on 39+ Yelp reviews.

However, both of those numbers include reviews from both before and after the visit from Phil Wills.

As always, I try to exclusively focus on reviews that were written after the actual visit from Phil Wills (which was around June 2024, so about a year before the episode aired on TV).

When looking at those reviews, I’m not seeing a big difference, though.

The Google reviews are still generally positive, with a few negative mixed in.

The Yelp reviews (usually tougher than Google reviews) are still quite mixed, with about an even mix of 5 stars and 1 stars.

Given that, I’m not sure how much things have changed.

Here’s a sampling of a few reviews that were written after the rescue happened to give you an idea of how customers are feeling…

Final thoughts on the episode

Overall, Pat and Dandy’s is still open and serving customers after the rescue from Phil Wills.

Because Phil Wills largely kept the same name (as far as I can tell), the bar also continues to operate as Pat and Dandy’s.

Unfortunately, reviews for the bar after the rescue still seem to be mixed, so I’m not sure how much things have changed.

I’ll need to keep an eye on this one going forward to see what happens.

That wraps up my Pat and Dandy’s Bar Rescue update.

  1. This rescue was BORING. I think it might have been a mistake not changing the name and not having a brand or theme. I did not notice much in the way of Dolphin football inside. Phil in my opinion had no fire or sense of urgency. Not saying he should act like Jon. Phil needs to do Phil but he needs to find some passion or moxie! He did not appear to be engaged this visit. Was not impressed with the food or the input of the chef performing the rescue.

  2. The Bar Rescue post-production team has been lackluster for these past couple of episodes as what it seems like. too many jump cuts, Bar training and cocktail recipe segments being cut out at the last minute because of the “drama” factor with the staff and owners in these bars, Experts having their introduction cards removed, it’s just all over the place. also, I feel like Jon not being there for most bars this season really set the tone for how the way this season went. No disrespect to Phil, but he isn’t Jon. also, I believe they should give Mia a crack at being a guest host at some point; she can’t be that worse compared to Phil and both have been working under Jon the same amount of time. You can tell she’s a little pissed at Jon for not giving her a chance to do this, especially in the later episodes.
